eVN's Merchandised Inventory Study
Dealers merchandise their stock online today using a combination of photography and so called ‘stock’ images. Photography can be excellent but is expensive, weather dependent, inconsistent, and requires the dealer to have the vehicle prepped and available to shoot. So, how many units of the average dealer inventory is properly merchandised online on an average day?
eVN has developed an AI based solution that analyzes dealer VDP listings and calculates/counts how many have quality images for each unit of inventory.
We analyzed over 4500 dealer websites across 5 national franchises in the USA. On each dealer website, for new vehicles, (VDP Pages), we counted how many vehicles were being merchandised and by what content were they represented – Photography, Stock Imagery, or eVN AutoGraph. While 68% of dealers rely on photography as their primary image source; 27% of National Inventory is not adequately merchandised for digital retail.
